TCA peel is a mid-grade chemical peel that penetrates deeper layers of skin providing deep cleansing and rejuvenation. The main ingredient of the formulation is trichloroacetic acid which is a type of acetic acid as a highly toxic chemical absorbed through the skin with a strong bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effect used as a chemical cauterant.
While it was discovered as a peeling agent back in 1882 by a German dermatologist named P. G. Unna, many important discoveries have evolved since then. One of the most important, was the discovery that it can be mixed with other chemicals for a variety of other effective peeling agents.
Won’t Remove Tattoos
Many chemical peel companies would like to advertise that their TCA products will remove tattoos, but Dermalure maintains the position that such claims are inaccurate, unlikely and unfair to customers who are seeking true solutions to their skincare problems. If you are trying to remove tattoo scars, please contact a Medical Doctor specializing in tattoo removal procedures. Chemical peels may fade some surfaces of tattoos, but it is widespread industry knowledge through vast clinical trials that tattoo removal is not effective via chemical peel procedures.
What’s Inside A TCA Peel?
TCA peels include a solution of trichloroacetic acid, which is made by dissolving a certain amount of trichloroacetic acid in enough water to make 100 cc of the solution. Trichloroacetic Acid ( TCA ) has a chemical formulation of C2HCl3O2 with CAS number 76-03-9. Dermalure’s TCA peels are available in different strengths or concentrations. The stronger the solution is, the deeper it penetrates the different layers of your skin. Superficial peels are done with 10 to 20 percent and 25 to 35 percent TCA; medium-depth peels are done with 40 to 50 percent TCA; and a deep peel results from the use of greater than 50 percent TCA.
